Here is the list of items to present at the appointment:

  1. Bring Your Level One License*/Temporary Instructional Permit (TIP). *If you possess a Level One License, it must be valid and issued by the SOS. You need to have been on the Level One for a total of six months before you may take the road test. If your Level One has been replaced, the original issuance date must be defined and authenticated by the SOS. Those with a TIP are not eligible for the test until the date of eligibility as stated on your TIP.
  2. (Only for those 18 and over) - Bring a piece of photo ID
  3. (Only for those under 18) - Bring Your Segment II certificate.
  4. (Only for those under 18) - Log of 50 hours of behind-the-wheel experience, 10 of which must be at night. The log must include dates, time-driven (totaled), and a signature of the adult who oversaw the driving. Providing an app with the logged hours will be accepted.
  5. (Only for those under 18) - Bring a parent or legal guardian. Please note: A Parent/guardian needs to be present at the road test appointment. If a parent/legal guardian is not able to attend, please call the office for a parent waiver.
  6. No one else is allowed in the car during the test - Children are not allowed in the car. Childcare is not provided.
  7. Please adhere to any restrictions on the permit e.g. CORR LENS, etc.
    Corr Lens - You must have your contacts or glasses for the road test.
    Verify restrictions on File - All documents concerning your restrictions will need to be presented at the test appointment, including the list of specific restrictions.

Here is a list of guidelines to comply with for your road test:

  1. Be on time for your appointment. We suggest that you arrive approximately 5 to 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.
  2. If you are unable to speak or understand English, you must bring an interpreter of at least 16 years of age. Interpreters must present a valid driver's license at the time of the road test.
  3. We need 24 business hours advance notice to change or cancel an appointment. There is no refund for missed appointments or failures. In the event of a refund request, with at least 24 hours notice, all but a $5.00 service fee will be refunded. Any road test appointment changes will be subject to a $5.00 service fee.
  4. Our company vehicle will be the only vehicle allowed to be used for the road test. This is to ensure that our team members have a safe and sanitized environment to work in. The only exception to this is those with interlock or auxiliary equipment restrictions. If you have an interlock or auxiliary equipment, please call us for further instructions.
  5. The test takes about 45 minutes to an hour. It consists of parking (including blindside backing a.k.a. parallel), city, highway, and residential driving. Please refer to the “Driving Skills Test Study Guide” if you have further questions.


Failure to provide or comply with the above requirements will result in an additional road test fee.

  1. Your MOTORCYCLE PERMIT & DRIVER’S LICENSE.
  2. Current proof of REGISTRATION and INSURANCE for the cycle
  3. A HELMET (it must be SNELL, ANSI or DOT approved)
  4. The motorcycle must be in good, operational condition. The brakes and brake lights cannot be damaged, inoperative, or missing:
  5. Bring your own ink pen to sign documents.
  6. Please adhere to any restrictions on the permit e.g. CORR LENS, etc.

Here is a list of guidelines to comply with for your road test:

  1. Be on time for your appointment. We suggest that you arrive approximately 5 to 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.

  3. The test is held weather permitting. If the pavement on the course is wet, the test will be rescheduled.
  4. The test consists of a short equipment check on the cycle, and then administration of the State of Michigan required motorcycle skills test.

Failure to provide or comply with the above requirements will result in an additional road test fee. If the applicant does not pass any component of the test, any subsequent test will be charged at our regular rate.

Here is the list of items to present at the appointment:

  1. Please bring the following information to the tester:
    1. A valid T.I.P. (temporary instruction permit from the Secretary of State) It cannot be expired.
    2. Michigan Drivers License (with photo) It cannot be expired.
    3. Current proof of insurance and registration on the vehicle and trailer you are using
  2. A ROADWORTHY vehicle that complies with section 1, page 7 of the Secretary of State CDL Manual. The following is a general list of equipment that cannot be broken, loose or missing:
    • Horn
    • Lug nuts (missing)
    • Suspension Parts
    • Safety belt(s)
    • Brakes
    • Coupling Parts
    • Wipers/Washers
    • Air System
    • defects
    • Windshield
    • Wheels
    • Emergency Equipment (missing)
    • Speedometer
    • Tires
    • Frame (cracked or broken)
    • Steering Parts
    • Lights (head, tail, brake, 4 way turn signals)
    • Doors (driver/passenger doors must operate)
    • Mirrors

  3. Bring your own ink pen to sign documents.
  4. Please adhere to any restrictions on the permit e.g. Glasses

Here is a list of guidelines to comply with for your road test:

  1. ONLY the tester and the test applicant are allowed in the vehicle.
  2. Be on TIME for your appointment. We suggest that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. If more than 10 minutes late you will have to reschedule another appointment and pay a rescheduling fee.
  3. 72 hours advance notice is required to change or cancel your appointment
    You must contact our office during office hours and give 72-hour advance notice if you wish to change or cancel your appointment. There is no refund for missed appointments or failures. In the event of a refund request, with at least 72 hours notice, all but a $5.00 service fee will be refunded. Any road Test appointment changes will be subject to a $5.00 service fee.

  4. The test is about 2 hours long and consists of Pre-Trip Inspection, Basic Skills, and Driving. Please refer to the CDL Manual if you have further questions or check the Secretary of State’s website.
